Welcome to the San Fernando Valley Southern Baptist Association

We are a fellowship of local churches who seek to honor God and obey the Great Commission. We share the Baptist Faith & Message as our common doctrine and offer support to local pastors and churches. If you're looking for a good church in the San Fernando area to attend, please check out our directory of churches

"I mention you always in my prayers, asking that somehow by God's will I may now at last succeed in coming to you. For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you -- that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine" (Romans 1:10-12).

Fellowship

Friendships are key to longevity in ministry. We offer fellowship and encouragement at breakfast and lunch gatherings, Zoom calls, plus special events throughout the year such as our Hispanic Leaders Gathering, Fall Women's Retreat, and a Christmas Banquet as we "increase and abound in love for one another and for all" (1 Thess. 3:12)

Equipping

Those called to "equip the saints" (Eph. 4:12) must themselves continue being equipped. We provide special times of training such as Zoom gatherings, seminary day trips, evangelism workshops, coaching calls, educational resources, and other gatherings for prayer and instruction.

Planting

Healthy churches plant other healthy churches. We mobilize churches in partnership with the North American Mission Board and California Southern Baptist Convention to serve church planters, obtain funding, and identify new areas for church plants. We also help existing churches with replant, revitalization, and pastoral search committee training.

Retreat

It's important to step back at regular intervals for rest, solitude, time with God and with your spouse. Jesus modeled this when he "went out to a desolate place to pray" (Mark 1:35). One of the highlights of the year is our Pastors and Wives Retreat. In 2025, we hosted Will and Tarah Browning who shared about opportunities to "consider one another more important than yourselves." This year's retreat is scheduled for September 18-19, 2026 in Calabasas with special speaker Dr. Adam Groza from Gateway Theological Seminary. Stay tuned for details!

Director of Missions

Stephen Jones became our new Director of Missions in January 2026. He has been a California Southern Baptist pastor for twenty years and has been serving as lead pastor of Calvary Church West Hills since 2024. He and his wife Natalie are excited to serve our local pastors and wives, and to help resource local churches to obey the Great Commission.
